Play Matches. Train Hard. Have Fun.

Hi, I’m Phil. I’m passionate about playing recreational singles tennis locally. I created this platform because I realized that finding new local singles tennis players to hit with was hard. I constantly felt myself driving to Denver. After connecting with a few other local players, I realized others had this same problem. So, I set out to try and make it just a little easier and have some fun along the way.

I live in North Boulder with my fiancée, dog, cat, and two horses.

Have thoughts on how to collaborate, help, or organize the effort? Shoot me an email at: phil@hotsinglestennisclub.com. Better yet, message me through the platform if you want to play a match!

If you’re interested you can read more about my aspirations for the club below.

Happy hitting,

Phil @ Hot Singles Tennis Club

  • I’ve realized that tennis, unlike many organized sports, seems to falter in cultivating a broader community beyond the confines of membership-based clubs and local courts. Given the geographical proximity within Boulder County and the abundance of players, my dream is to compile an extensive directory of singles players that want to play matches. This project aims to maximize local match opportunities for every participant, contrasting with existing platforms that often impose match fees and predominantly cater to larger cities. This prevailing model, while probably good business, inadvertently steers the focus away from what I consider the essence of progression in tennis: the sheer volume of match play against a diverse array of competitors. I believe the richness of our game is inherently tied to the variety of our opponents, and improving in such a solitary pursuit compels me to drive change.

The recent closures of clubs and courts in Boulder County present an opportune moment to lean further into organization. Colorado tennis is on the rise and I personally believe it’s severely underrated and under appreciated by the broader tennis community. While advocating for more facilities or funding may be beyond my personal reach, I feel I can make an impact locally by creating this tennis community to hopefully foster new connections and ensure the sport remains an integral part of our local culture.

I am particularly passionate about advocating for singles play, which addresses a notable void within our community. Singles players often face inherent challenges, overshadowed by the more social doubles play. I plan to streamline the connection process for singles players, to enrich their access to new matches, and grow a network. My aim is to personally nurture an atmosphere that promotes both participation, personal growth, and competitive spirit.

In essence, the ethos of Hot Singles Tennis Club is encapsulated in the name: it’s about the pursuit of joy and ease in a typically rigid sport. I envision a community where personal excellence is pursued without the constraints of ratings or rankings, because I believe that true growth flourishes in a setting unburdened by external pressures. It is within this laid-back environment that we may have the biggest strides in our tennis journey.

While I aspire for a lot, ultimately I just hope you join and have fun.
